About Us
The Mesquite Heart Board is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the health of Mesquite and its neighboring communities by effectively raising awareness of the leading cause of death in our nation: heart disease. We carry out this crucial mission through impactful community events, comprehensive CPR training, educational seminars, and dynamic fundraising initiatives, including our premier event, the MHB Annual Heart Gala.

Our Impact
In 2019, Mesquite became a Heart Safe Community through the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC). The Heart Safe Community designation recognizes a community's efforts to protect its citizens from heart disease and sudden cardiac death.
Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs)
The Mesquite Heart Board's grant program ensures more automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are publicly available to Mesquite residents and visitors. These devices and corresponding education support rapid response to cardiac events within the community. Through the generosity of donors and sponsors, the Mesquite Heart Board has awarded 39 AED grants for local organizations, including 13 for the Mesquite Police Department. Because police officers are often the first to arrive on the scene of any emergency, the Mesquite Heart Board's goal is to equip each MPD cruiser with an AED.
CPR/AED Courses & Presentations
The Mesquite Heart Board offers CPR/AED certification courses using the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) Training programs. These Courses are available at no cost to AED grant recipients, Mesquite residents and businesses, and other organizations within the community. In addition, presentations on heart health are available to business groups and other organizations within Mesquite. These are offered by qualified health experts covering heart disease and stroke prevention. We provide hands-only CPR education for larger groups and funding for individual defibrillator vests for those with limited insurance or financial resources.
